"Could not rate higher because at least half of the fixing bolts would not screw in deep enough to allow the bolt heads to sit in the countersinks. Had to shorten the bolts to sort this out. It isn't difficult to assemble but some sort of instructions would be useful. None are provided even though the bolts and screws come in a bag marked to include instructions as well. Finally the packaging was very poor - just a cardboard box in which the bench parts were loosely put inside. When the box was delivered it was damaged in a couple of places which resulted in damage to the bench which needed sanding down to fettle the bumps and scratches out. I didn't complain or return the bench because I am experienced in diy and was confident I could sort things out but that won't be the case for everyone. I also felt that you 'get what you pay for' and this bench was considerably cheaper than others made of teak."

"Once assembled, a good quality bench. However, the assembly was very troublesome. There are only six main bolts to assemble but this was not possible with two of them as the holes had been drilled inaccurately. In one case the hole for the bolt was not deep enough to allow the bolt through to the chamber for the nut. In the other the hole into the chamber was not central enough to allow the nut to align with the bolt. I had to use a drill to correct the issues. It took some time, around 3 hours, to work out what was wrong and correct the problems. So all in all I am very disappointed by some issues that could have been avoided by some simple quality control."

"The quality of the bench itself is excellent, but the "limited self assembly" was not a straightforward as anticipated. Whether holes were not correctly drilled and this was the cause of the problem or whether the quality of the bolt fittings was the problem, I don't know. I am an experienced "diy-er" and I had considerable difficulty."

"Being teak, we thought the wood would be heavier duty. As it happens, the wood was quite light-weight. Hopefully will serve us for many years to come. Lovely design and shape. Will be nice when it weathers-in a little. Looks a bit "new" at the moment."

"I'd say that this is just about acceptable for the price, but no better than that. At £149 this sounds like a bargain, but I find it hard to believe that this really is Grade A teak. Parts of the bench I received are very variable in colour. Maybe it will look better when it has weathered a bit. And despite what the description on the website implies, the fixtures are not brass. They are steel with brass-coloured plating. That said, the bench was not too difficult for one person to assemble, and when put together it is very rigid and seems sturdy. It just doesn't look very good, and unfortunately is not very comfortable to sit on either. Overall, despite the reasonable price, I'm a bit disappointed with it. If mine is a typical example, I certainly wouldn't recommend it."

"Lovely bench, great quality. Just a bit tricky with getting some of the mortice and tenon joints together and if they weren't tight closed the screws wouldn't tighten either. Maybe the instructions could guide you as to what order to do things as well!"

"I Thought when unpacking it that wood could do with being a bit thicker but fully assembled it looks OK and overall I am very pleased with it. One screw hole was not an easy fit but that could be overcome. Instructions were not bad but there is a slight curve on the seat This fits into the legs and the back section either of 2 ways round. only 1 particular way enabled tight fitting joints at the back . Turned out correct way was with all sticky identifying labels on the one side. It would help if that was in the instructions"
